In
the past few months, while continuing to move forward
towards the next issue, we’ve been able to meet
and introduce the magazine to some of the most important
people in Australian basketball. One of the first things
we wanted to do was give Andrew Gaze a copy of the magazine,
and just to hear his thoughts and encouragement was
really appreciated. We introduced the magazine to the
Australia Post Boomers, giving them something to read
on their flight over to Beijing. We spoke one-on-one
with; Patty Mills, CJ Bruton, Chris Anstey, Brad Newley
and coach Brian Goorjian. The footage we filmed from
these interviews will be released real soon (stay tuned).
Basketball Australia have been very supportive of the
magazine and we’re looking forward to developing
a closer relationship with them moving forward as we
continue to promote the game.
After
all the suggestions and feedback, and meeting all these
great people in the game, we wanted to be sure that
the second issue is a step in the right direction for
basketball in Australia. The focus for Hoopcity is not
to throw a rushed magazine out there to make a quick
buck, our focus is all about the game’s growth,
it’s about promoting the right players and a positive
message so that basketball in Australia can return to
where it always belonged.
While
Issue 02 is getting closer to being released, we hope
that more people get the opportunity to grab a copy
of Issue 01 to see what Hoopcity is all about. If you’ve
already got your copy, introduce your friends to Hoopcity,
get them a copy, or let them know about the website.
Another reason Issue 02 hasn’t been released yet
is that we’re close to locking in deals that will
give the magazine greater reach at greater locations.
We’ve decided to wait until everything is in place
before the second edition comes out. The official release
date will be announced in the coming weeks on the website.
At
the end of the day, we’re going to continue to
do what we do and help the game develop in Australia.
It’s the support from people like you who will
keep the magazine moving forward, it’s the people
you tell, the feedback you give, and also the contribution
you offer. We’re not saviours of the game, but
together, as the basketball community, Hoopcity has
the potential to play a major role in lifting the profile
of basketball in Australia.
