Amber Smith
Coach
Amber is an American basketball player, originally from Louisiana, USA. Amber attended the university of Missouri (MIZZOU from 2016 - 2020. After her collegiate career, she started her professional career where she played in Greece, England, Puerto Rico, Turkey and most recently back for her second NBL1 season with the Dandenong Rangers. Amber has experience in coaching and has a passion for the development of athletes.
Paul Brotherson
Head Coach & Venue Manager
Paul Brotherson (aka PB) has been involved in basketball in both a player and coach capacity for over 25 years and has recently moved to Melbourne from Sydney. Paul was the Head of Basketball at The Pittwater House Schools, where he was managing both the Junior and Senior school basketball programs. Paul represented NSW in U18s & U20s, he then attended Metropolitan State University of Denver (formally known as Metro State College) where he lead the team to the Elite Eight in the NCAA D2 Championships. Paul continued his basketball career by playing four years as a professional in Germany and for the last two years has been playing in the NBL1 East competition for Hills Hornets. Paul is passionate about the development of players in all levels. He prides himself on creating inclusive and fun environments for kids and young adults to thrive. In his spare time, Paul enjoys playing golf, fishing and being active.
Cullen Hoy
Coach
Cullen plays Under 20 1s for Mornington and has played for the club since 2022. He recently represented his school at the 2023 National High school Championships. He enjoys sharing his love of basketball with anyone who wants to improve. Cullen hopes to one day become a student athlete in the US college system and is working towards that goal.
Jake Gubb
Coach
Jake worked his way through the VJBL system at Westernport as a player from U12's to U20’s. He coached U14's-U20’s at Westernport and Mornington at Representative level as well as an U18’s girls team at Frankston. Jake's desire is to help anyone with a passion for hoops.
Jen Flack
Strength & Conditioning Coach
Jen has been a strength and conditioning coach for three years and has experience working in NBL1 with the Frankston Blues. She is passionate about helping players get stronger, more fit and be able to stay injury free and on the court. Whether it be taking your game to the next level, returning from injury or just general health and fitness goals Jen is here to help.
Kynan Philippe
Coach
Kynan spent his junior years with the Frankston Blues before recently completing his second year as a part of the Frankston Blues NBL1 South men’s roster. He recently committed to St. Cloud State University in Minnesota off the back of his 3rd time representing Victoria at the Australian Junior Championships, one of which earned him a silver medal.
Alex Thompson
Coach
Alex played juniors at Mornington and currently plays for their Youth Men's team. He loves his hoops and if he's not playing, you'll find him coaching.
Ryan Broekhoff
Head of Basketball
Ryan started his basketball career playing for the Frankston Blues. He went on to play basketball professionally for ten years over multiple continents. Highlights of his career were representing Australia in the 2016 Olympics, as well as playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. His journey has brought him full circle and he is ready to give back, by helping the next generation on their pathway to success through basketball.
